Meaning and Definition of Judicial Proceeding - 

                       Section 2 (i) of the Criminal Proceeding Code defines Judicial Proceeding. According to Section 2(i)  " judicial proceeding" includes any proceeding in the course of which evidence is or may be legally taken on oath.  Judicial Proceedings Includes Trial and Inquiry but not Investigation

What is Investigation?

"Investigation" includes all the proceedings under Criminal Proceeding Code for the collection of evidence conducted by a police officer or by any person (other than a Magistrate) who is authorized by a Magistrate in this behalf. 

"local jurisdiction", in relation to a Court or Magistrate, means the local area within which the Court or Magistrate may exercise all or any of its or his powers under this Code


 Judicial Proceedings -  

i) Proceeding in Execution of a Decree

ii) An Inquiry Under the Legal Practioner Act

iii) Under Article 144 of the said Code, An Inquiry by a Code. 

iv) Maintenance proceedings under Chapter IX of the Code.
